The common face reference covers Dots, Bams, Craks, Winds, Dragons, Flowers and Jokers. The back changes; the American Mahjong face system remains independently readable.

A made-to-order American Mahjong set with a one-of-a-kind character.

This is not a ready-made set pulled from a shelf. Start with the back and matched tile-blank direction you love, or contact Mahla to discuss another compatible idea. Before production, we confirm the chosen back, its matching body, visible side layers and base color as one complete design.

Every tile is handled individually by the maker. Artwork and suitable decorative details are positioned tile by tile; pearl or bead accents are placed one by one when the approved design calls for them. The clear resin layer is then applied and the finished backs are reviewed together. Subtle hand-made variation is part of what gives each set its own character.

01Confirm the matched blank and place the design

Once your back direction and its matching tile body, side layers and base color are approved, the artwork is positioned by hand in each tile mold.

02Build the details, one tile at a time

For RMJ-004 and RMJ-005, pearl details are placed individually. Other custom decorative requests are reviewed for feasibility before production.

03Apply the clear resin layer

The approved artwork and decorative details are covered beneath a clear layer, preserving the visual depth of the customized back.

04Finish and review the set together

The completed backs are viewed as a group so the design direction, hand-applied details and overall finish read as one coordinated set.
