Thoughtful American Mahjong Designs, Made With Care

A note from Mahla · October 9, 2026

Lately, we have been working on the things you see when you visit Mahla: our American Mahjong designs, the details on each product page, and the way you find your next set. Behind those changes is a simple intention—to make something you will enjoy choosing and bringing to your table.

A Mahjong set can be part of a weekly gathering, an afternoon with friends or a holiday tradition. We want our collections to leave room for those different moments, and for the different tastes of the people around the table.

Different themes, with a character of their own

We are drawn to the small details that give a collection its personality. The dessert-inspired motifs of Sweet Afternoon create a different mood from the shells and sea life of Blue Current. Colour matters, but so does the way the artwork belongs together across a set.

Our Christmas collection brings another kind of gathering into focus, with Nordic Midnight, Winter Post Office, Classic Christmas Jubilee and Gingerbread Icing House. Alongside the festive designs, our year-round collections remain an important part of Mahla. You can explore all our Mahjong themes to find a style that feels like you.

Taking time with the details

A new theme is only part of the work. We also care about how the individual motifs read, how the colours sit together, and how clearly the images explain the available choices. We are continuing to review those details as we develop our collections.

That care should extend to browsing, too. Recently, we have been refining our collection navigation and product pages so it is easier to move between themes, look more closely at the artwork and find the information for a particular option. We know there is still room to improve.

We have also added updated matching Mahjong mats as an optional way to carry a favourite theme across the table. They are one small part of these ongoing updates.

A conversation as we keep improving

We see our designs and pages every day. Someone visiting for the first time may notice a detail we have overlooked, or imagine a theme we have not yet explored. That perspective matters to us, whether you already own a Mahla set or are simply taking a look.

We would love to hear what designs you would like to see, or what we could make better. Share your thoughts with Mahla →

Thank you for following what we are making. We will keep putting care into the products, and listening as we go.
